During the national forum on We Are Watching campaign in #Nepal, Nahendra Khadka, the Coordinator of the Nepal Peasants Coalition, urged the National Planning Commission to incorporate the plight of small farmers into their policies to address climate change. “The problems of #climatechange should be treated as a political and an economic issue, instead of simply marginalizing it as a technical problem,” he said. Further, he emphasized that the farmers are the protectors of our earth and should be treated with justice and dignity. He also proposed some action points and proposed the establishment of the Farmers’ Investment Impact Fund and Climate Resilience Fund under the IFAD, which could be accessed by the farmers’ organizations (FOs). He also highlighted the importance of the collaboration of the National Peasants’ Coalition with the Government agencies and UN agencies, and the purpose for better engagement and collaboration in the coming days.
