Sustainable Forest Management
Organization: Kyrgyz Association of Forest and Land Users (KAFLU)
Country: Kyrgyzstan

In the forests of Kyrgyzstan, where livelihoods and landscapes are deeply intertwined, members of the Ishker KG Cooperative are redefining what it means to care for the land. For generations, these forests have provided shelter, food, and income. However, growing pressures have put their future at risk.

This video follows the cooperative’s journey toward sustainable forest management. Through careful stewardship, community-led conservation, and practices that protect biodiversity, Ishker KG is restoring balance between people and nature. By managing forest resources responsibly, they are not only safeguarding fragile ecosystems but also creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

Their story is a reminder that when communities become guardians of their forests, conservation and economic resilience can grow side by side—ensuring that Kyrgyzstan’s forests continue to thrive for generations to come.
