The Agribusiness Support Fund, the national implementing agency of APFP-FO4A in Pakistan, recently hosted the 3rd Agriculture Policy Dialogue. This event was designed to convene a diverse gathering of experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from the agricultural sector. The primary objective was to engage in substantive discussions regarding critical policy matters and to foster the exploration of innovative solutions.
This policy dialogue presented a unique opportunity for the farming community in Gilgit Baltistan to collaborate and exchange ideas, with the overarching goal of shaping sustainable policies and strategies for the future. The presence of Engineer Muhammad Anwar Khan, the Agriculture Minister, as the esteemed chief guest, greatly enriched the discourse by providing valuable insights into the government’s vision and its ongoing initiatives in this vital sector.
Notable figures such as the DG PARC, a representative from FSC&RD, the Director of Agriculture Research in Gilgit, DD Agriculture, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, and the Acting VC of KIU actively participated in this event, contributing their expertise and perspectives.
Moreover, the President of the Karakorum Farmer Cooperative Network, along with the management teams of all three Regional Farmers Cooperative Organizations, actively engaged in discussions and offered invaluable feedback aimed at addressing the current challenges faced by local smallholder farmers in the region.
