On 16-18 December 2019, the Cambodian Farmer Federation Association of Agricultural Producers (CFAP-Cambodia) organised a study visit of its farmer members from Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham to see how farmers in Siem Reap grow vegetables following the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for supplying markets in Siem Reap.

The study visit aims to improve vegetable production through the Participatory Guarantee System so small scale farmers can apply it to their respective farms when they came back to their villages. Smallholders expected that they can get a better price when they apply a new technical protocol following the PGS. The study visit was facilitated by GRET Cambodia in Siem Reap and CFAP’s chairwoman.

In order to ensure that small scale farmers are capable of following the technical protocols, CFAP needed to seek funding to provide technical training to farmer members, in particular, the Agri-Business Advisors base for all farmers’ organisations in 12 provinces/municipalities in Cambodia.
