Peasants in Thailand have been affected by chronic problems of poverty and hardship in living and production, similar to experiences shared by peasants worldwide. Peasants become vulnerable to human rights violations and need specific protection. Then La Via Campesina as the international movement of peasants initiated the Peasant’s Rights at the UN level as a new instrument to protect peasants’ human rights, life, and livelihood.
AFOSP-APFP Thailand launched the Peasants’ Rights campaign since the start of the program in the country in 2017, as it is the common issue shared by all farmer organizations in our platform.
The national implementing agency of AFOSP-PFP Thailand organized actions to campaign and promote peasant’ rights and UNDROP: training, photo campaign, policy recommendation development, and advocacy, and educational material making.
They are certain that UNDROP is a new tool for them to defend their rights better. This is also an avenue for solidarity of peasants regionally and worldwide. #
