The objectives of the meeting are to discuss and improve the AWPB 2015 – 2016, comments on the draft proposal on “developing interest groups and branches”; the draft program on “Organizing staffs and farmers for studying, training, exchange of experiences, advertising agricultural products inside and outside the country”; identify topics for studies and lobbying.
The participants agreed with the AWPB proposed by the NIA and emphasized that the NIA should focus on some key activities due to limited budget, developing interest groups and branches are very necessary, but need more workshops to discuss very carefully to ensure that they will work well, sustainably, on voluntary basis and become cooperatives in consideration of their links with VNFU. It is extremely important to organize farmers for exchange visits inside and outside the country to learn and share experiences and initiatives because there were many exchange visits for staffs, not for farmers, and farmers could learn and apply experiences and initiatives quickly in production. Finance for these exchange visits should be mobilized from different resources. Organizing farmers to advertise their products should be linked with companies and the national market promotion program. NIA should consider some topics for studies and lobbying such as impact of TPP, AEC on farmers, food safety, labor safety, implementation of the new cooperative law, conservation of domestic seed and varieties, jobless situation of rural laborers, development tendency of cooperative groups, cooperatives…
Representative of Department of Cooperative Economics and Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed follow up meetings with NIA to discuss about the development of interest groups and branches as well as other possible areas for cooperation. Pro. Dr. Bui Quang Toan, Director of VietHRRA shared experiences and good impact from the exchange visits organized by AsiaDHRRA and proposed NIA to actively mobilize financial support from donors and partners to organize farmers for exchange visits, particularly seek for support from AsiaDHRRA.
