I am Erwin L. Zolas, 18 years old. I come from a clan of farmers. We have a big family; I am 15th out of 18 children.
My involvement in a young farmers’ group started when my father asked me to check on my brother because he preferred staying at the cooperative over going home. Eventually, I was also enticed to join the cooperative and started to join training courses.
I now hold a national certificate on organic production. I help my parents on our farm and I also do agriculture labor when somebody hires my services. When I have no work to do, I say at the cooperative.
To our legislators, please help make agriculture easy for farmers. Provide easier access to mechanization; promote diversified cropping rather than monocropping; and implement laws that benefit all farmers whether landowners or tenants.
