My name is Lê Thị Thùy. I am currently working at the Center of Vocational Training and Support for Farmers for the Ninh Binh Farmers’ Union.

In recent years, the agriculture sector had to face a pressing issue that is climate change. Sea level is rising, and floods caused damages and loss for farmlands. Saltwater intrusion in coastal areas has narrowed agricultural land. As the earth’s temperature increases, drought affects crop distribution and reduces yield.

To minimize the negative effects of climate change on agricultural production, we should change the model of growing plants from monoculture to sustainable farming, invest in research and production of salt-tolerant and drought-tolerant seeds, and multiply advanced farming models and methods such as agricultural practices, integrated crop management.

I believe that the participation of authorities at all levels and the cooperation of all citizens will repel the negative impacts of climate change on the agricultural economy.
