I am Sagar Bajagain, 18 years old, a member of All Nepal Peasants’ Federation (Revolutionary Centre).

I am farming 19 Ropanis of land (20 Ropanis is equal to 1 hectare) in Sindhupalchowk. In this land, I grow vegetables in 5 Ropanis (0.25 hectare), planted bananas in 3 Ropanis, and cultivated cereal in 11 Ropanis.

Currently, we are facing several problems as farmers. Among the most prevalent problems are the lack of timely availability of fertilizer and seeds, lack of agricultural machinery and farm equipment, lack of accessibility to the grants/subsidies and relief funds from the municipality (local government), lack of access to the market for selling the agricultural produce, lack of facilitation by government agencies/authorities and the trap of middlemen.

These problems are affecting our livelihood and daily life to the extent that we have to search for alternative employment opportunities. So, I most humbly request our Minister to address these problems by designing and implementing the appropriate policies.
