The initiatives of farmers’ organizations (FOs) in the ASEAN region under AFOSP were presented during the EU-ASEAN Youth Talk Series conducted virtually on 8 February 2021.
Speaking on behalf of AFA, Irish Dominado, Communications and Visibility Officer for APFP, highlighted the activities and programs of FOs for their youth members including the conduct of youth leadership training in the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos as well as agricultural entrepreneurial training conducted by FOs in Indonesia and Myanmar.
In 2017, AFOSP conducted a Youth Forum in Indonesia where young farmers from different countries in ASEAN and EU shared their initiatives and accomplishments to inspire more young people to engage in agriculture. In 2020, AFOSP-APFP conducted a Young Farmers Dance Challenge to promote agriculture among young people. AFOSP-APFP aims to engage more youth in agriculture and one of the program’s ways to promote this is by conducting online and face-to-face interesting and fun activities that appeal to young people.
