Hubei Province, China — Summer has come, and so does summer fragrance, and the mouth-watering grape season. On 20 June 2020, the farmer specialized cooperative federation in Hubei province helped the farmers in picking (group buying) and selling their goods to the public by production and marketing docking activities. Two hundred community leaders attended this activity which was held at the east-west lake Dongshan Qunli village.
At the launching ceremony, Yang Yong, secretary of the Party branch of Qunli village, delivered a warm speech. He says that the environment of Qunli village is beautiful and that their grapes are national geographical indication products. He also welcomed the participants to the Qunli village to help farmers pick the fruits, and also join to enjoy sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment.
In the production and marketing of agricultural products in Wuhan Julonghai specialized cooperative planting base, the mature seedless summer-black grape string is covered with branches, the fruit grain is kept even, and the color is bright. Round summer-black grapes appear purple-black like a black gem. Each grain is sweet with a faint fragrance. “It is very relaxing to walk into the vineyard,” says a community leader who is visiting with his family.” The grapes are very tasty and they’ve been picked together. We had a pleasant and comfortable weekend here.”
Wuhan Dongxihu District Agricultural and Rural Bureau attached great importance to this activity. The main leaders of the bureau took the initiative to participate in the activity and actively interact with the head of the community. Their attendance enhanced the enthusiasm of other participants, which led to the atmosphere of a group purchase. The head of the association said the preferential price group purchase with grapes is 8,900 kilograms and their sales income is 124,600 yuan (RMB). This activity is a win-win situation for the farmer and the leader as they both benefit from selling and buying the grapes
In addition, this activity is a concrete action to conscientiously implement the general requirements of the strategy of “30 articles of the Hubei Provincial Government’s work report promotion fee”. This means “focusing on the objectives of expanding domestic demand, ensuring economic growth, helping farmers benefit the people, increasing farmers’ income and benefiting the citizens, we should actively create an innovative model of Internet tourism sales, promote the image of ecological green leisure tourism brand, continuously improve the marketing channels of agricultural products production and marketing alliance, speed up the construction of agricultural products supply chain and marketing system, develop rural tourism, vigorously promote the sale of high-quality agricultural products in Hubei Province, increase agricultural productivity and increase farmers’ income, and let the public buy the safe and healthy.”
The Federation of Farmers’ Professional Cooperatives of Hubei Province aims to live up to the expectations of the public, shoulder the responsibility bravely, continue to move forward, run every agricultural aid activity, reduce the impact of COVID-19 on agriculture, and help the farmers’ cooperatives of Hubei Province tide over the difficulties.
