SANASA International concluded a very successful stakeholder forum that focused on the scope and the business potential of the palmyra industry. The event was held in Jaffna on Thursday 28th April 2022 from 10 a.m to 2.00 p.m and was attended by 33 stakeholders representing Palmyrah Development Board, Export Development Board, Palmyrah Research Institute, Small entrepreneurs Development Department, District Cooperative Council, Jaffna Cooperative Bank, Palmyra cooperative societies, Jaffna SANASA District Union, Private sector businesses, eco ape cooperative network, SEFEC and SANASA International. Each service provider presented their observations of the industry, the challenges and the opportunities, and what they are currently providing to the industry. The forum explored deeply the potential for the expansion of the industry to create more value for the smallholder producers and created partnership opportunities between private businesses and cooperative producers.
