I am Vu Tien Tinh, born in 1978. I am an officer of the Farmer’s Union in Dong Duong commune, Dong Hung district, Thai Binh province, Vietnam. I am passionate about agriculture, so I built a family farm. In practicing agricultural production, I realize that the country’s agriculture faces many difficulties and challenges.
The weather is very complicated and extreme—hotter, drier, colder, and the sea level is rising so traditional occupations must be quickly adapted. Potential and hard-to-control pests and diseases cause great damage to the agricultural sector. For example, the 2019 African swine fever resulted in an increase in the price of pork. By joining the international integration, local farmers had to compete with big countries in producing quality goods. Farmers still have a conservative mindset and production is small and self-sufficient. Production is developing but farmers’ income is still low because there are not many goods to sell.
From the above thoughts, I propose to the Ministry to advise the province and district to develop regulations to support farmers in their production. Encourage and support farmers in planning commodity production and export processing zones by contributing land to build cooperative groups and cooperatives. Support resources for building infrastructures such as water and electricity roads. Link farmers with the State, scientists, entrepreneurs, and banks.
